Janadesh 2007 is an ultimatum to the Government to resolve the land issue or face non-violent direct action. The assembly called for Do or Die. The members of the assembly also took the pledge undertake foot march to the Delhi for demanding land rights. If their demands were not met by October 2007, 25000 landless, deprived peoples would undertake foot march to Delhi.

Local fund raising: Janadesh Kosh
About 20000 villages started collection of Janadesh Kosh in the form of kind and Cash in their villages. In each villages of Ekta Parishad, people are planning to collect at least 3000 rupees for supporting their representatives coming for walk in Janadesh.

People’s power can be expressed in many ways. Marching to Delhi is of course one way, but Janadesh as identified many methods in order to involve many people. The children will work around “Bhumi Suraksha Sutra- Land Protection Band”. They will not wear this band and go around but will also collect donations for Janadesh. Postcard campaign gives an opportunity for the support groups even ordinary people can write a postcard to the prime minister asking him to respond to Janadesh. There is also one action called “Shapath Patra” this is basically a document that people signed to show solidarity and also to promise participation in the walk from beginning to the end taking one’s own responsibility.

Janadesh patra is an interesting idea evolving large number of people across the country. In each family of proposed walker there will be an earthen pot placed in the corner of the Kitchen to collect rice or wheat. Members of the family are supposed to put one handful of rice or wheat in the pot everyday as a token of their contribution to Janadesh. In many houses there is also small collection box for putting small coins. These coins are also for Janadesh. Other then this small and important actions to make it widely participatory people are contributing wheat and rice and money in bigger quantity also.

At the international level foot-print collection in solidarity of Janadesh is going on a big way. Support march will be organised in many places not only in India but in many other countries as well.

The whole Janadesh will broadly get divided in to 4 solidarity areas. For those who want to participate and support. One broad theme will be solidarity in Health. Another one will be solidarity in water and sanitation. The third area will be called clothing partners of Janadesh and the fourth area will be providing food. This gives a broad possibility for groups and organisations or even individuals to walk in and play an effective role in shaping the Janadesh. In the freedom struggle of India CHARKHA was the symbol and in Janadesh Janadesh patra is the symbol. The idea is to build from people and their strength. The pot is made in the village, this is commonly used by common people one handful of rice or a coin of one rupee is within the reach of the poor person this is the process that makes the Janadesh a real people’s movement.
