History of struggles shows that the fruits of the struggle were always enjoyed by the middle class. Even Indian freedom struggle ended up benefiting the powerful. Janadesh process was basically identifying training grassroots level leaders so that the struggle can be led by them and they also bring the results of the struggle down to the people and finally to the people. Cadre building from the bottom is very strong agenda for Ekta Parishad all along. As a result Janadesh will be led and managed by these young man and women. We believe in the role of middle class struggles but one has to be careful that the middle class do not grab the end result in their interest. From that aspect even the very agenda of land and the way it is formulated by Janadesh will not give much scope for the middle class to benefit, what one is asking is redistribution of land to the landless. If middle class people are coming to support this agenda they must know the benefit must have ultimately goes to the landless poor.
The mythological story about River Ganga is very famous, that River Ganga got held up in the jata of Shiva. It took many years for a character called Bhagirathi to bring Ganga from the jata of shivs to the soil. Freedom and many other programmes are in the jata of the state it takes the efforts of many Bhagirathi to bring it to the deprived people, Janadesh is one of them. |
